Events to Get You Through the Week
Tonight, Westport Whiskey & Wine is holding one of its grossly sexist, highly popular Women Only tastings. The wines will be, fittingly, by Little Black Dress, and dress for the event will be little and black as well. There will be a fashion show, chair massages, photo ops on the red carpet and exactly the kinds of tomfoolery that will make all of us guys really, really jealous that we’re not invited. The cost is $5, a portion of which goes to breast cancer research. Corks pop at 6:30 and no one has to leave until 8:30. I’m thinking of dressing in drag and crashing the party.
Tomorrow (Thursday, May 14) Limestone has a cheese and wine tasting. The wines are Austrian: Domane Wachau Gruner Veltliner, Loimer Riesling Kamptal, and Heinrich Zweigelt Burgenland. The cheeses are polyglot: Beemster from the Netherlands, Cambozola from Bavaria, and Limburger from Germany. The cost is $15 and you can stroll in any time between 5 and 7 P.M. It’s also half-price bottle night, so when you’ve worn out your welcome at the tasting you can plop down in the bar and choose a bargain from Limestone’s regular list.
Also tomorrow, Westport Whiskey & Wine is holding it’s regular Thursday open bottle night. This week: wines of Washington and California from the Tramonte & Sons portfolio. Five bucks, 6:30 to 8:30.
Friday night (May 15) The Wine Studio at 610 Magnolia is holding a Farm to Table Tapas Party. The tasting and dinner start at 7 P.M. with a flight of Spanish Wines and small-plate Tapas. After that, there’s a traditional family-style dinner. On the list are wines from Artadi, along with Rojo Garnacha, a sleek, fruity red that’s further evidence that Spain may redeem the French tendency to treat grenache as filler. The dinner and tasting are $45, and reservations are required. 502-817-7936.
Saturday, you’re pretty much on your own.

Sadly, even lovely women in LBD’s and chair massage would not provide enough incentive to acually swallow the swill that Little Black Dress Wine puts in the bottle.
