Celebrity Wine, Crosstown Rivals Edition
The Chicago Cubs and White Sox now have their own wines.
Both wines were similar in flavor. Unfortunately, that’s not saying much. The Merlot was soft and somewhat syrupy, with one-dimensional berry and cherry notes and a too-short finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon was rougher, with touches of black pepper jazzing up an otherwise boring berry flavor.
The Cab is graced with a photo of Cubs first baseman Dereck Lee, who’s on my fantasy baseball team and has had, until the least couple of weeks, a horrible year at the plate. The Merlot is sponsored by Sox starting pitcher Mark Mark Buehrle, who’s having a much better year.
Fortunately, the wine is for charity.
