Because I Am Not a Graceful Man, I Must Be Pragmatic
Beginning to permeate the public consciousness is a new dress-code standard: Wine Country Casual. The San Jose Mercury-News puts WCC on the fashion continuum between Business Casual and Cocktail, a “relaxed version of what someone might wear in a formal office environment.”
According to the article, men are supposed to abandon their blue blazers in favor of cream-colored suits, apparently to accentuate the brilliant color of whatever wine they might spill on themselves.
The ability to gracefully eat and drink while standing up and chatting is a core distinction between elegant people andĀ inelegantĀ people. Speaking from experience, my most important accessory while conforming to a Wine Country Casual dress code would be a Tide stick.

I’m judging a wine competition this weekend, and I have a specific shirt I wear since I do spill — red plaid, about 15 years old. How is that for fashion sense?
