It seemed appropriate to draw proceedings to a climax with the continuously intense, supremely powerful, richly hedonistic, abandoned, suffusing Amarone (La Tirela 2007): This was the unavoidable apotheosis of concentration in a wine – the point at which wine comes close to exploding in to something more. We can enjoy foreplay for its own sake but La Tirela was the unabashed conclusion we had all greedily been working towards.
