You make an interesting point, comparing wine to golf. I wonder: How similar are the demographics? And if they are similar, as I suspect, is it another example of the misguided direction that wine marketing takes? Golf, after all, hardly has mass appeal, though the people who play it are awfully affluent.
I’ve got a feeling that the demographics are different. Way more women drink wine. Wine consumption is much more frequently daily. Wine stores don’t charge membership fees, green fees, etc.
